Movax Side Grip Piling

Movax side grip piling is a relatively new concept in the piling world & AWCS were proud to be one of the leading contractors to employ this concept back in 2006 & now run two of these unique piling hammers.

The Movax piling side grip method will never compete or be able to carry out the work of larger leader rigs, but can complement these due to their maneuverability & their ability to track off the low loader & go to work without the need of designed piling mats due to the fact that they are basically excavators with a piling hammer attachment.

As with all equipment they have their limitations, which is firstly the weight of the pile & secondly the length of the pile.

AWCS operate two units:

  • Movax SPH 80 side grip piling hammer
  • Hitachi ZX 350 excavator
  • The handling capacity of this hammer is 1.4 tone

Length of pile is governed by the weight of the pile, but realistically 14-metre max, after which it is still possible to pitch the pile with a crane & then drive the pile.

  • Movax SP 50 side grip piling hammer
  • Case CX 225 zero tail swing fitted with a blade
  • The handling capacity of this hammer is 1 tone

Again the length of the pile is governed by the weight of the pile, but we would suggest a maximum length of around 12 metre.
